Acute
What does Acute mean?
Definition
In typography, an acute accent (´) is a diacritical mark used to indicate stress or vowel height, or to distinguish between homonyms. For example, in Spanish, the word "pájaro" (bird) is pronounced differently than "pajaro" without the acute accent on the "a". The acute accent is most commonly used in languages such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, and other Latin-based languages.
